How The Doctor Network collects, uses and protects personal information. Last updated October 2026.

Who we are

The Doctor Network Aus Pty Ltd (ABN 68 702 173 297), trading as The Doctor Network ("we", "us"), is a medical recruitment business based in Surry Hills, NSW. We connect doctors with healthcare organisations across Australia for locum and permanent roles.

We are committed to handling personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information, and how you can access or correct it or make a complaint.

What we collect

  • Doctors and candidates: name, contact details, specialty, current and preferred locations, work preferences and availability, CV, qualifications, work history, AHPRA registration, Medicare provider number details, and references.
  • Credentialing information (only when you are being put forward for or starting a role): identity documents, police checks, Working with Children Checks, immunisation records, insurance and training records, and information about any conditions or restrictions on your registration. Some of this is sensitive or health information, and we only collect it with your consent and where it is reasonably necessary for a placement.
  • Healthcare organisations and their staff: names, roles, contact details and details of the roles you are recruiting for.
  • Website visitors: the information you enter into our forms. Our website does not ask you to create an account.

How we collect it

  • Directly from you, for example when you fill in a form on this website, send us your CV, email or call us.
  • From other people, such as referees, colleagues who refer you to us, and the healthcare organisations we work with.
  • From publicly available sources, such as the AHPRA public register, professional directories and practice or hospital websites, and from third-party data providers.
  • If we collect your information from someone other than you, we will let you know when we first contact you, along with how to opt out.

Why we collect and use it

  • To talk with you about roles that match your preferences and introduce you to healthcare organisations, with your agreement.
  • To verify your registration, qualifications, references and other credentialing requirements.
  • To manage placements, including timesheets, invoicing and feedback.
  • To understand and meet the needs of the healthcare organisations we recruit for.
  • To send you relevant job opportunities and news (see Marketing below).
  • To meet our legal, regulatory and insurance obligations.

Who we share it with

  • Healthcare organisations: we will not send your CV or details to an organisation without first speaking with you and getting your agreement.
  • Referees and credentialing bodies: to verify information you have given us.
  • Service providers who help us run the business: for example our CRM database and file storage, email and business software providers, and our website host. They may only use your information to provide services to us.
  • Others where required or authorised by law, for example regulators or government agencies.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

Storing information overseas

Some of our service providers store or process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure those providers handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the APPs.

Marketing

We may send you information about job opportunities or our services by email, text message or phone. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by replying to any message or emailing hello@thedoctornetwork.com.au.

Keeping your information secure

We store personal information in access-controlled, password-protected systems and limit access to people who need it to do their job. Credentialing documents are kept in private storage. When we no longer need personal information and are not required to keep it, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Website and cookies

Information submitted through our website forms, including any CV you upload, is sent by email to our team. Our website uses Google Analytics, which uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are viewed and whether a form is submitted). This information is aggregated and does not include the details you enter into our forms. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
